She was a Lioness. Video of the Great Sphinx Robbery, and her Identity Theft.
The Bearded Lady. She was "bearded" by the King, and this was a theological seismic event.

The Second Sphinx?
Not so much.

She was Mehit
Mehit was the Patron of Priests, Scribes and Archivist Guild dating back to the First Dynasty, some 500 years prior to the supposed creation of the Sphinx.

Identity Theft!
Head re-carved into likeness of the King.
Everything Must Fit
If true, then all elements present throughout history must have fit into original proportional lioness head.
Aerial shows the Stump!
Faint traces behind the head of Sphinx of neck remnants, only visible from above, not from the ground.

Layers of repairs!
The Great Sphinx was not built! It was quarried directly from the limestone bedrock, and has been repaired numerous times from antiquity.
Mehit bent key Cairo museum
This icon can be found on sealings all the way back to First Dynasty. From Cairo Museum.
Lioness from Lion Hill Saqqara
From Cairo Museum. Vastly predates purported creation of Great Sphinx.
Nemes Tail convergence
The crisp inscribed lines of the Nemes Headdress are still clearly visible, pointing to where they converged into the tail of the headdress. Even though the head has been fully exposed for the lifetime of the monument!
Buried in the 1860s
Some of the earliest photos of the Sphinx, almost but not completely buried in sand, as the monument was for much of its life.
Severely Deteriorated
1920s, before the concrete restoration work was performed in 1926.
Free Me from the Sand
And I will make you King. That has been her challenge ever since before Thutmose IV cleared her over a thousand years after supposed creation.
OLD Sphinx!
Who even knew what mysteries lie beneath?
Beginnings of Modern Excavation
This shows the demarcations of the limestone layers of the Sphinx, at the heart of the geological controversy.
1925 Back with Gauri layers
Back of the Sphinx before the concrete "work" showing the much harder stone layer of the head. Bed 7a is clearly visible in the foreground.
Old 1925 shot of rear before concrete restoration
This rear shot really shows the slope of the many layers of the Mokattam Formation that make up the Giza Plateau.
Old head with Gauri's layers marked
Fully described geological layers. The softer layers are marked "i". The harder ones are marked "ii". The Layer 7a is the demarcation between the head and the back of the Sphinx.
WWII Sphinx!
Amazing shot of the protective steps taken during the hostilities of WWII. Guess you didn't need a permit in those days...
1925 photo showing original claws
Incredible shot of some of the first modern restoration work in 1925 clearly showing that the original ancient core body of the Sphinx had the claws sculpted into the feet. These are covered over by ancient layers of repairs that duplicated the claws.
Sphinx and Temple Enclosure Courtesy of Madain Project
The two temples in front of the Sphinx comprise huge stones that were quarried right from the Sphinx Enclosure, meaning that they must have been constructed at a similar time. The Dynastic Egyptians were not even aware of the existence of the Sphinx Temple as evidenced by the later temple (far right) that was built right over a corner of the older one which was completely buried!
Broader view of Sphinx and Giza Plateau
Modern Day with her countless admirers.
Unas Ruined Pyramid
Last, and smallest of the Royal pyramids. At this point, the core masonry was mostly rubble, faced with the fine limestone. Quite a contrast from the Great Pyramid of Khufu! And yes, this one WAS a tomb. Unas Tomb containing the Pyramid Texts was 97 feet below carved out of the bedrock.
The Pyramid Texts of Unas
Stunning floor to ceiling hieroglyphs, 26,000 in all. They are the Pyramid Texts, the first and oldest known religious writings from ancient Egypt.
The telling Hieroglyph
This out-of-date and disfigured symbol of Mehit triggered our investigation into the hidden message embedded in the Pyramid Texts.
